Global Security and Intelligence in 2025

Global security

The global security landscape is continually reshaped by shifts in international politics and economics. Nations compete for dominance and control over natural resources, trade routes, and technology, resulting in increased tensions that can spark conflict and violence. Additionally, climate change and other environmental issues have the potential to impact national security by causing people to flee their homes for safety or to seek better living conditions, which can lead to political unrest.

As the world faces a confluence of complex challenges, security professionals need to embrace new approaches to protecting organizations and individuals from terrorism, cyberattacks, and other emerging threats. Whether in government agencies, businesses, or Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), experts in global security and intelligence are tasked with the responsibility of collecting, analyzing, and managing intelligence and mitigating risks for their organization or client base.

Amid all of the disruption, 2025 is expected to be another year filled with a range of security challenges. For example, as cyberattacks become more prevalent and increasingly sophisticated, it will be important for organizations to invest in their data backbone. This includes implementing tools that leverage machine learning to automate their detection and response process.

Furthermore, the threat of a nuclear attack will continue to threaten global stability as criminals illegally traffic sophisticated weapons to unstable regions. At the same time, environmental catastrophes such as droughts and flooding will displace populations and exacerbate poverty, while resource scarcity leads to astronomical food prices that can trigger riots and economic instability.
